Condolence: The Life and Times of Harold Brittain

Harold entered into the work force
when he was just a lad;
He was a hard worker throughout his life time
and God knows he gave everything he had.
His skills and talents they were many
he was a real handy man, that's for sure;
Harold had an insatiable love for music
that came right straight from his core.
Harold was in his utmost glory
when in the field, the forest or the stream;
Hunting and fishing were two of his favourite past times
this man certainly got to live his dream.
Harold Brittain was a man's man
and he was stronger than a moose;
When he got out on the dance floor
he could really cut 'er loose!
I've shook the hand of Harold Brittain
and let me tell you he had a grip;
Even in the later years of his life
it would be unwise to give him any lip.
Harold not only wore many hats
he also wore a friendly smile;
I would liken him to the Good Samaritan
he would always go the extra mile.
Harold proudly served his country
in World War Number Two;
To him and all who took up the fight
a great debt of gratitude is due.
It's ironic that so close to Remembrance Day
this wily old vet would be laid to rest;
Both in war and through out his life time
I haven't a doubt he gave his very best.
Harold had a witty sense of humour
he always struck me as being kind;
There's no question priceless is the legacy
that he has left behind.
During the ninety-five years that Harold lived
he left an indelible mark upon this sod;
He touched and blessed a lot of lives
he truly was a gift to us from God.
Yes, Harold's toe- tapping days are over
and the final note here for him is played;
To those of us who knew and loved this man
our memories of him will never fade.
My hope is that I've done him a bit of justice
with these heart felt verses that I've written;
I realize they are merely just a glimpse
in the life and times of Harold Brittain

Condolence: It was with great sorrow that I heard of Harold's passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the whole family. I know how hard it is to lose a Dad. Harold had such a wonderful smile that all you had to do was see it and you had to smile back. Keep strong and lean on each other for strength.
